This situation would be due to the fact that many companies will not automatically replace material that is sent back to them from a customer until the returned item is inspected. Therefore, the return and replace process occurs in two steps. This step will replace the returned material.
Go to RMA tab and create a new RMA.
Fields that must be entered are:
- Original Sales Order
- Account Name
Other fields are optional, but entering Descriptive Information could prove useful in the future when referencing this RMA.
When done, click “Save”
The RMA Details screen is brought up.
Go to the RMA Lines Information related list and select “Add Lines From Order”
If “Show Exploded BOM” is clicked, unclick it.
Go to the “Choose what items you want to replace on the new RMA” and click on the items you wish to return and click “Next”
Enter a “Reason RMA Line” and choose “Replace” for the “Type” field
Click “Save”
Then, scroll to the top of the RMA header and select ”Process RMA Lines”
Click ”Process”
Once the RMA Detail screen comes up, do the following:
- Select one of the options from “Reason RMA Line”, like “Defective”
- Select “Replace” from the “Type” field
- Click “Save”
Then, scroll to the header of the RMA and click “Process RMA Lines”
The following screen would appear.
Select “Process”
Select a lot to pull the replace quantity from.
Click “Save Items”
Then click “Save Items” and “Back To Case”
The RMA will show the original sales order. Click it to see that the sales order line has been created.
You can now pick, pack, and ship, as well as modify the line item is any way.
